Who doesn’t dream of participating in the Olympics? You may not know it yet, but there’s a good chance that you have a potential Olympic pigeon in your loft.
What are the conditions to qualify for the selection of the Olympic pigeons in the “Standard” category in Maastricht on January 26, 27, and 28, 2024?
There are 4 categories.
1) Old doffers (ring from 2022 and older).
The doffers must have flown a minimum of 2500 km prizes per five in the years 2022 and 2023. Of these, at least 750 km must have been achieved in 2023. The races must be at least 100 km. At least 150 pigeons must have participated in the race with a minimum of 20 fanciers.
2) Old hens (ring from 2022 and older).
The same conditions as for the doffers, with the only difference being that the hens must have flown 2000 km, of which at least 600 km this year.
3) Young doffers (ring from 2023).
These must have participated in only 3 races this year with a minimum of 300 km prizes per five. Furthermore, the conditions regarding the number and distance of the race remain the same as those for the old doffers.
4) Young hens (ring from 2023).
The same conditions as those for the young doffers.
A final inspection of the selected pigeons will take place just before the Olympics in January. At that moment, the pigeons must be fully through the molt.
To participate in the final, the pigeons must have participated in at least 1 BCK inspection. They must have achieved a minimum score of 91 points.
Cost: €1.5 per pigeon
