Twan Bongers is a born long-distance racer. Starting in pigeon sport in 1972, he was always in a constant search for the absolute best long-distance pigeons in the Netherlands. Much reading, research, and observing results brought him to the basics, namely the iron-strong Jellema, Aarden, and van Wanroy pigeons. He also arrived at the absolute top like Cor de Heide (Made, NL), Anton van Haaren (Heesch, NL) via Wim Heurkens (Geffen, NL) and from 2005 about 50 direct birds from Jelle Jellema (Nijverdal – NL). Thus, “Superklamper Nl 00-2479706” was purchased, directly from Cor de Heijde (Aarden strain), the phenomenal founding father of the Twan Bongers colony. Paired with “Kimlynn” 1st International Perpignan, a series of exceptional long-distance champions were produced.

In 2005, Twan won 1st International Perpignan with his “Kimlynn” NL02-0260950. Before her international victory, she already achieved 6th National Dax. Despite various offers, Kimlynn remained in the lofts in Odiliapeel. This would later prove to be a good choice. Several descendants scored top-100 rankings at National and International levels in the following years.
Without exaggerating, we can state that Twan Bongers, with his iron-strong breeding line of long-distance pigeons, belongs to the absolute top in Western Europe.
With a formidable strain of Aarden and Van Wanroy pigeons, Twan Bongers has proven for decades, both independently and in recent years in partnership, to be among the absolute top of the European long-distance world. In 2013 and 2014, Twan and his partners flew 1st, 2nd, 4th, 4th, 5th, 8th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 16th, 19th NATIONAL and 1st, 3rd, 10th, 10th NPO. Internationally, they flew, among others, 5th, 6th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 45th.
Notable is certainly the result from Barcelona 2014, where he played the fastest series of 3 with 15th, 17th, and 45th internationally.
