Voucher auctions

start.jpg

Clubs have been relying on Pitts for many years to highlight their voucher auctions.

Voucher auctions are essentially donations of pigeons or eggs from high-performing enthusiasts to pigeon clubs. The proceeds from these “voucher auctions” can supplement the club’s funds and allow the clubs to organize extras for pigeon enthusiasts. That’s the explanation regarding this.

Through Pitts, pigeon clubs can further highlight their vouchers by organizing bids under their own management on Pitts.

The clubs can choose whether the bids are also the final bids (Online Sale or if there is then still a "after" bid (+Room Sale) in the pigeon club. This information is always clearly available for each voucher auction.

Sale of pigeons

Pitts is also known for its auctions of pigeons all over the world.

NL / GB / FR Buyers conditions at the auctions - Conditions générales de vente de l'acheteur aux enchères

Bidding can be done simply by placing a bid per pigeon or by registering as a potential buyer, which makes bidding easier.

The bidding

Depending on the closure of the ongoing auctions, new auctions will start every Monday evening around 9:30 PM.

At the end of the auction, bidding is definitively closed, and from that moment on, the pigeons are indisputable property of Pitts, which will then sell them to the highest bidder.

Pitts sells pigeons that are offered to them by third parties (read: sellers or providers). The sale within an auction always takes place through a bid. The bid made by the potential buyer is always binding. Pitts reserves the right to refuse this bid without providing further explanation.

Provided information

The information provided at the auctions regarding both the loft, the pigeon fancier, and the sold pigeons and their sex is supplied by third parties (read: pigeon fanciers who offer the pigeons to Pitts). Pitts cannot be held liable for the accuracy of this information.

Viewing days

Pitts organizes a number of viewing days during the auction season for the pigeons to be sold in Lede or on location. This usually takes place on the Friday evening before the end of the auction. If, for one reason or another, a viewing day cannot take place, Pitts will commit to offering potential buyers the opportunity to come view the pigeons in Lede during the auction period, and this by appointment. In no case will Pitts provide compensation if a viewing day cannot take place due to external reasons of any kind.

Unless otherwise stated, viewing days take place on Fridays from 4 PM to 9 PM at Langeweestraat 51, 9340 Lede.

General health

The seller delivers the pigeons in good condition and basic health. For any breaches against this, Pitts cannot be held responsible in relation to the buyers. Pitts also reserves the right to select the offered pigeons at any time based on quality and condition. Furthermore, all pigeons must be provided with the legal Paramyxo vaccination, and a vaccination certificate not older than 12 months and not younger than 3 weeks must be presented when delivering the pigeons to Pitts.  Pitts commits to providing optimal care for the animals from the time of delivery. All pigeons will be presented by Pitts to an accredited veterinarian and, without exception, will receive an additional vaccination against Paramyxo, as well as check-ups and if necessary treatments against trichomoniasis, coccidiosis, and worms. An additional cost of €5.00 per pigeon will be charged to the buyers for this. This will be reflected on the website as an “administration cost”. Pitts can however never be held responsible if it turns out later that a pigeon is still infected.

If the pigeon is sick upon delivery or upon death, the buyer has 48 hours to report this to the administrative office of Pitts by email to info@pitts.be. Pitts reserves the right to appoint a veterinarian to examine or perform a necropsy on the pigeon. The costs for this will be borne by the buyer unless the complaint is well-founded, in which case Pitts will bear the costs.

In case of death or sickness, the seller may provide compensation in consultation with Pitts and the buyer. Pitts will always play a mediating role in this, but without guarantee of an outcome.

Fertility and age

Of course, it should never be the intention to offer pigeons in an auction that are no longer fertile, but when it comes to a very specific pigeon (foundation sire, foundation dam…), this may be allowed, provided that it is offered in a paired sale. Specifically, this means that each pigeon from the age of 8 years in the auction must be accompanied by as young as possible, direct offspring of it, preferably of the same sex. If pigeons younger than 8 years were sold that are not or less fertile, Pitts cannot be held responsible for this. The buyer must also inform Pitts of this as soon as possible by email. Pitts will, if necessary, test the pigeon for fertility and commit to playing a mediating role between the seller and buyer, but without guarantee of an outcome.

Total sales

In the case of a TOTAL sale, the seller cannot compensate a sick or deceased pigeon by gifting another pigeon. Only a refund of the bid amount is possible, provided that notification of illness or death occurs at the administrative office of Pitts, specifically via email to info@pitts.be within 48 hours of receipt of the purchased pigeon. Pitts reserves the right to appoint a veterinarian to examine or perform a necropsy on the pigeon. The costs for this will be borne by the buyer unless the complaint is well-founded, in which case Pitts will bear the costs.

If a purchased pigeon from a total sale ultimately turns out to be not or less fertile, then no compensation is possible!

Auction of weaned young pigeons

Photos will not be taken as they are young pigeons. The owner may take photos themselves and attach them to the sale. An auction of weaned young pigeons always runs for 7 days on Pitts, from Monday to the following Monday. Then bidding is definitively closed and from that moment on, the pigeons are indisputable property of Pitts, which will then sell them to the highest bidder.

The buyer has the choice to pick up the pigeons in Heusden-Zolder or in Lede or at the seller's home, if the latter allows this. Pigeons must be paid for before pickup on Pitts's account, regardless of the pickup location! Pitts will inform the seller of the payment and only then can the pigeons be picked up from them. The young pigeons can also be delivered to the home for an additional cost of €40.00 per address for Belgium or €20.00 per fancier from multiple fanciers per address and this as soon as possible after the auction's end.

Weaned young pigeons, due to their young age, SHOULD NOT have been vaccinated against Paramyxo by the seller and also will not be vaccinated at Pitts for the same reason. BUT: if the young pigeons are not picked up immediately by the buyer or cannot be delivered for any reason, they will receive a vaccination against Paramyxo, as well as checks and potential treatments against trichomoniasis, coccidiosis, and worms. Just like with the auctions of old pigeons, an additional cost of €5.00 per pigeon will be charged to the buyer. Buyers who pick up or have their young pigeons delivered at the scheduled times will receive this administration cost back. Pitts can never be held responsible if it turns out later that a pigeon is still infected.

DNA certificates

Any DNA certificates are always the responsibility of the seller. Pitts can never be held liable if DNA analysis shows that the pedigree is incorrect. Samples can be requested by the buyer, and the costs associated with this will also be borne by the buyer in that case. The seller commits to allowing the requested samples within 30 days of the request, by appointment and in mutual agreement with the buyer.

Settlement and payments

After the conclusion of an auction, buyers of their ‘won’ auctions will be informed via an automated mailing. This confirmation email contains all the details of the purchased pigeon, the payment conditions, and the account number to which payments must be made. The buyer must therefore always pay the amount for delivery to Pitts, and this in euros. The amount shown on the site will be increased by 6% VAT according to Belgian tax law. In addition to the purchase amount, a fee of €5.00 per pigeon (incl. VAT) will be charged to the buyer, for the benefit of cures, vaccination, and administration.

The pigeons will not be delivered until the full purchase amount has been paid to Pitts. If not or insufficient payment has been made within 30 days, the sales agreement will automatically be dissolved, but Pitts can still claim the additional administrative costs, which are 10% of the purchased pigeon with a minimum of €50.00 from the buyer. Buyers who do not pay will be placed on a blacklist and will automatically be excluded from further participation in auctions. They also risk judicial debt collection. Pigeons that were not delivered to the bidder due to non-payment remain the undisputed property of Pitts and can be auctioned later by Pitts as part of a ‘non-delivered collection’.

Pick-ups and deliveries

Buyers must indicate their choice for delivery or pickup by Wednesday afternoon at 4 PM.

Specifically, there are three options:

  • pickup in Heusden-Zolder on Thursday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM
  • pickup in Lede on Friday from 10 AM to 9 PM
  • home delivery

We strongly ask that you always bring the payment receipt when picking up. Keep this receipt handy if you opt for home delivery.

Payments can be made via the payment module on the website under “My Account” → “Won Auctions”. The detailed instructions for this can be found on our website. Payment by bank transfer is also possible to the Belfius account: BE83 0689 4879 4615 with a clear mention of name + auction + lot numbers. The costs for home delivery amount to €40.00 per address for Belgium or €20.00 per fancier starting from multiple fanciers per address and will be borne by the buyer. Also, shipping abroad, various taxes, such as import duties, are borne by the buyer. Pitts can assist in arranging these transactions. At all times, the costs incurred will be charged to the buyer. Pitts is not responsible for the transport to the buyer, both domestically and internationally. Pitts is also not responsible for other problems during delivery, such as quarantine, import issues, etc.

Pitts is not responsible in cases of force majeure of any kind and is therefore not liable for any damages to the buyer.

Privacy

According to privacy legislation, Pitts may not disclose data or information about who purchased which pigeons. The seller will therefore not receive a list of the various buyers, as was often the case in the past. If a buyer wishes to come into contact with the seller, they can do so at any time based on the details listed on the pedigree. Conversely, release of their details can only be done with the approval of the buyer. This specifically means that Pitts will only pass on this information to the seller after written or verbal consent from the buyer.
