Press Release Agen.
On Monday, June 24, the pigeons from Agen were loaded into containers, picked up from the locations, and brought to the collection point in Olen. There, the full baskets are transferred to the pigeon trucks of Bauwens, and the remaining baskets are combined into full ones that are then loaded onto the trucks of Bauwens.
To make matters worse, on Sunday morning, Mr. Frank Jacobs from Section Limburg discovered that in the truck that picked up the pigeons from Agen in Limburg, there were five ZLU baskets with pigeons inside. At that moment, Mr. Jacobs immediately informed our board and approached a veterinarian about how best to care for the pigeons. Based on the basket lists, it turned out that the five baskets originated from association 2404 in Beek.
The owners of the affected pigeons were promptly contacted and informed about what had happened. The concerned fanciers came to the sectional shed in Geleen and collected their pigeons there. The pigeons we retrieved from the baskets appeared to be in relatively good condition. However, unfortunately, five pigeons did not survive.
Apparently, something went wrong when unloading the Limburg truck in Olen. It is clear that this should never have happened, and we understand the emotional reactions from the owners. The ZLU deeply regrets the situation and offers its sincere apologies.
A word of thanks to Mr. Jacobs who responded alertly and took proper care of the pigeons.
Board ZLU.
