The foundation of the Bourgeois loft traces back to the old lineage of none other than Devooght Gaston & Danny, more specifically the line of the absolute star "Manu" (1st Asduif Fond). Among others, the brother of “Miguel” (4th Asduif heavy Fond KBDB 2007) 649/06 "Nathan", father of 3054712/07 "Nadal" (1st Asduif Pipa ranking over 3 years Fond 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2nd Provincial Asduif Fond 2009 flown by Pierre Bourgeois himself) moved into the loft. Clearly one of the cornerstones of the Bourgeois loft. His half-brother "Lemty Junior" is also the founding father and great-grandfather of '495/19': 2nd National St-Vincent 2021 and 26th National Perpignan 2022. This formidable star did not miss a single time from Bourges to Perpignan in 2022. He is a half-brother of the 3rd National Asduif Heavy Fond 2018 "Choi", bred with the breed from De Smeyter-Restiaen where Pierre obtained an inbred grandson of "De Joost": 1st International Perpignan. Furthermore, we also see pigeons from Marcel Sonneville (Deseyn-Vandemeulebroecke and Lidou), Erik Devlaminck, Etienne Devos. From these breeds, Pierre bred his best pigeon ever: 3120100/10 "Mistral" 1st international Asduif Heavy Fond 2014 with 0.26% and 1st National Asduif Heavy Fond 2014 with 0.28%! His sister "Amalie" is also the mother of "Choi": 3rd National Asduif heavy fond kbdb 2018.
Game System
Pierre plays the classic widowhood system where the focus lies on the game with the old doffers. The hens are not raced. Before the season, the fliers raise one round of young ones for which they are paired in November. In March, they are paired again to brood for about 5 days. The pigeons are not trained and go directly to Arras, about 90 kilometers. This method is also applied to the young pigeons.
Nutrition
“The widowers are fed separately in bowls in the basket, this is necessary because each pigeon follows its own program,” says Pierre. In the morning, 1/3 cleanser, 1/3 Breeding, and 1/3 Flight. In the evening, this changes to 2/3 Flight and 1/3 maize. After training, there is always a treat waiting.
Medical Guidance
The medical guidance is provided by Emiel Demeester (Degudap). The pigeons are annually vaccinated against paratyphoid and paramyxo, this occurs in January after breeding. Before the season, the pigeons are treated for coccidiosis and trichomonas if necessary. During the season, the well-known 'yellow drops' are used. Afterwards, the condition does the rest!
