PE’s West and East Flanders join forces!
NEW RELEASE SITE ORLEANS (GIDY)
Since last season, the popular release site Orleans (Saran) has been closed.
Finding a new release site in Orleans was not straightforward.
The city council deemed the cause to be the extensive urbanization.
As a result, negative advice was consistently given on our proposals.
To meet the necessity and find a release site that offered a solution for the joint Orleans for PE’s West and East Flanders, diligent searches were conducted in the vicinity of Orleans by the representatives. This ideal release site was found after discussions with the municipal authorities in the municipality of Gidy (Fr).
Recently, Dany Vandenberghe and Marc Rousseau, who took the lead in this matter, made a work and site visit with the mayor in Gidy (FR).
The delegation also included representatives: Piens; Van Overwaele, and Callebaut.
The visit ended positively with an agreement, which was positively evaluated after valorization by the FCF.
Gidy is located 4 km just north of Saran. The release site is ideally situated and close to the A10 motorway and in a beautiful open plain, without obstacles towards the departure of the pigeons.
For the escorts, all sanitary facilities are in the immediate vicinity.
The area with accompanying parking will be completely closed upon arrival on Friday. There is space for 9 to 10 trucks.
For 2024, two more releases are planned, namely on July 27 and August 3.
An agreement has also been reached for 2025. This will be communicated in due course.
Both PE’s hope to have definitively found a release site in Orleans (Gidy) for the future?
This marks the end of an uncertain situation, allowing West and East Flanders to organize the annual Orleans flights without worries.
