After years of racing under the name Theo Dijk & Zn with his father, Michaël decided after his father's passing in 2017 to focus on breeding pigeons for one-loft races and friends who are enthusiasts.
For this, you need a robust line of pigeons that can handle the pressures. Thus, there is regular investment in pigeons that win the finals in one-loft races or ace pigeons from these races, such as “Master Knin,” 4th ace pigeon Derby Knin Croatia 2021. These are then crossed with existing breeds like Gebroeders Brugemann (Assendelft), Hans Knetsch (Katwijk a/d Rijn) & Jan Roelofs (Alkmaar) from the renowned Montar pair. The young from these pigeons mainly go to the one-loft races. In 2021, they participated for the first time in the Derby Knin Croatia, winning 2nd place in the final race of 410 Km and also achieving the 4th ace pigeon. In 2022, no pigeons were sent anywhere, only to compete this year in 2 races, namely Thailand Masters (still ongoing) and back to Derby Knin Croatia. In the latter, the final results included 2nd, 10th, 44th, 61st, 64th, 66th, 67th, 86th & 87th place, which brought 1st, 7th, 12th & 14th ace pigeons.
For the flights closer to home, Michaël invested in pigeons from Jelle Roziers. Thus, one of the two breeding doffers at Dijk's is “King Roziers” (the father/grandfather of 7 times top 10 prov/nat), while the other breeding doffer is “Ultimate Harry” (the father/grandfather of 6 times top 10 prov/nat) from the world-famous Jan Hooymans.
