This winter, I was forced to say farewell to the pigeon sport.
All the pigeons were sold off, and the lofts were torn down.
My brother from Zelzate took a large number of young males with the intention of acclimatizing them.
That went quite well.
The pigeons regularly come to Bredene but always return by themselves to Zelzate, except for one pigeon, a blue white flight BE24-3094279.
It came for the first time from Zelzate to Bredene a few months ago but would not return.
For about three days, it stayed in the garden and on the surrounding roofs, but then it suddenly disappeared without a trace.
It no longer showed up in Bredene or in Zelzate.
To my great surprise (and joy), it suddenly returned here, fourteen days ago, after months of absence.
Since then, it sits almost every day between 8:30 and 9:00 for about ten minutes on the roof of the neighbors and then departs again towards the southwest.
It looks to be in perfect condition, shining in its feathers and behaves like a widowed male.
This strengthens my suspicion that the pigeon is staying with a lover in the close or somewhat further vicinity who lets their pigeons out every morning around the same time.
If that is the case, and since the pigeon has emotional value to me, I would like to explicitly ask that lover to return the pigeon through this channel (I know no other).
This can be done either by calling the phone number attached to the pigeon's leg, by contacting info@pitts.be, or by placing the pigeon in a box by the front door of Driftweg 53 Bredene.
You will make one former pigeon lover very happy.
