Limburg Long-distance & Marathon Club starts preparation for the 57th Orléans race.

Until February 15, the Limburg pigeon enthusiasts can register their young pigeons for the 57th provincial Orléans flight.

Until February 15, Limburg's pigeon enthusiasts can register their young pigeons for the 57th provincial Orléans race. The fanciers do not need to provide ring numbers, but simply the number of young pigeons they wish to participate with. Registration is done through the clubs at 0.50 euros per young pigeon. All registered pigeons will participate in the free championships and are eligible for the free prizes. Currently, the prize pool already exceeds 6,000 euros. Additionally, the first 10 pigeons will receive free shipping.

Last year, there were 14,637 registrations, and only 2,097 young pigeons flew in the separate derby series. From this year on, the provincial Orléans will proceed without derbies.

The “Orléans” working group of the LFMC is currently busy with the renewed approach. They will certainly retain the good ingredients from the past. This is done with the cooperation of Jo Lambrechts, who is using his expertise and numerous connections for the organization of the renowned Orléans race. The departure from the loft in Genk-Zuid will again be accompanied by a reception and a barbecue at very affordable prices. The working group also plans to involve enthusiasts and even a public figure in the collection of the pigeons and possibly the journey to the release point. What happens to the pigeons? How are they cared for? In short, introducing enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts to the ins and outs of pigeon sport.
Furthermore, the visit of the winner of the grand prize to their home, including a reception, will be retained. Previous winners have reported extensively that they experienced this award ceremony as one of the most beautiful experiences in their pigeon career.

Municipal Authorities

It is also being investigated whether there is interest among the Limburg municipal authorities to present a prize to the winner among the young pigeons of their city or village. A brochure on glossy paper will be created in which sponsors can support the provincial Orléans race.
In summary: within the LFMC, there is hard work underway for the preparation of the 57th Orléans. It now depends on the enthusiasts themselves to register as many young pigeons as possible for the 57th edition of “den Orleans,” which will take place on July 27, 2024.
