Until February 15, Limburg pigeon enthusiasts can register their young pigeons for the 57th provincial Orléans race. The fanciers do not need to provide ring numbers, only the number of young pigeons they wish to enter. Registration is done through the clubs at 0.50 euro per young pigeon. All registered pigeons will participate in the free championships and are eligible for the free prizes. Currently, the prize pot already amounts to over 6,000 euros. Additionally, free shipping applies to the first 10 pigeons.
Last year, there were 14,637 registrations, and only 2,097 young pigeons competed in the separate derby series. Starting this year, the provincial Orléans will have to continue without derbies.
The “Orléans” working group of the LFMC is currently busy with the renewed approach. They will certainly retain the good ingredients from the past, with the collaboration of Jo Lambrechts, who is using his expertise and numerous connections for the organization of the renowned Orléans race. The departure at the loft in Genk-Zuid will once again be framed with a reception and a barbecue at very affordable prices. The working group also plans to involve enthusiasts and even a celebrity in collecting the pigeons, and who knows, the journey to the release location. What happens to the pigeons? How are they cared for? In short, introducing enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts to the ups and downs of the pigeon sport.
Furthermore, the visit of the winner of the grand prize to their home, including a reception, will also be maintained. Previous winners have extensively stated that they experienced this award ceremony as one of the most beautiful experiences in their pigeon careers.
Municipalities
Additionally, it is being investigated whether the Limburg municipalities are interested in presenting a prize to the winner from their city or town among the young pigeons. A brochure on glossy paper will be produced in which sponsors can support the provincial Orléans race.
In summary: within the LFMC, hard work is underway in preparation for the 57th Orléans. Now it’s up to the enthusiasts to register as many young pigeons as possible for the 57th edition of “den Orleans,” which will take place on July 27, 2024.
