KBDB message about the expected heatwave this week and coming weekend (August 16–17, 2025)

As you have undoubtedly heard, we will be facing a heatwave in the coming week. In France, a red alert has also been issued for several departments for multiple days.

Notification KBDB:

Dear members,

As you have undoubtedly heard, we will be facing a heatwave in the coming week. In France, several departments have already issued a red alert for several days.

According to the weather maps, morning temperatures for Saturday, August 16, are predicted to be between 25 and 30 °C, rising above 35 °C during the day. In combination with a northeast wind, this creates the ideal cocktail for heavy and risky flights with young pigeons over these distances. The transport to the release point on Friday would also take place under excessively high temperatures.

After consultation with the presidents of the PE’s/SPE’s, it has been decided to proceed with the following calendar changes:

The national race from Argenton, organized by KBDB, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, is cancelled and will be replaced by a new national race from Bourges on Saturday, August 23. Following this, the existing calendar will be followed. Further communication regarding the provincial race calendars during the weekend of Saturday 23 will follow later, province by province.
During the weekend of August 16 and 17, only sprint races are allowed, meaning only races with one night in the basket. The maximum number of pigeons in the baskets must be reduced by 10%.
No training or competitive flights will be allowed from Wednesday, August 13, to Friday, August 15.

We count on your understanding of these measures, which are taken in the interest of the welfare of our pigeons.

With sporting regards.

The national president,             The president of the NSC,

Pascal Bodengien.                        Denis Sapin.
