11-04-25 – Announcement – KBDB Elections
In the context of the ongoing election procedure within the Royal Belgian Pigeon Breeders Association (KBDB), we wish to inform you about the steps that have already been taken and will be taken regarding the acceptance or possible rejection of the submitted candidacies.
To ensure a transparent and correct course of the elections, a court bailiff has been appointed. This measure underscores our ongoing commitment to fair and honest elections.
Furthermore, we want to inform you that questions and issues have arisen regarding the submission of the candidacies to the “Election Service” and the special email address established for this purpose to ensure confidentiality. Violations of this have been identified by the court bailiff. It is unprecedented in the history of the KBDB for a court bailiff to be involved in determining matters related to the candidacies.
To legally assess these issues, advice has been sought from our legal advisors. The findings will be communicated to our national representatives during the next extraordinary National General Assembly (BNAV), so they can make a sovereign decision.
Regarding possible incompatibilities with Article 26 of the KBDB statutes, it is not the NRvB that will make a ruling on this matter. The sovereign decision belongs to the national general assembly, following advice from the relevant PE/SPE.
The further course of the elections will also be entrusted to the court bailiff. He will be present at the KBDB on April 30, 2025, to verify the number of registered members (useful for calculating the number of mandates per province and per district and also at the national level) and to prepare the list of members who are eligible to vote. Additionally, he will oversee the mailing process of the ballots at the printing house. To ensure the confidentiality of the court bailiff's work, his anonymity must be respected.
The counting of the votes will also be entrusted to this sworn official. At no time will there be any ballots within the KBDB – neither before the mailing to the members, nor during the period when the members can cast their votes, nor upon receipt of the returned ballots.
Finally, we want to firmly clarify that the members of the NRvB will at no time make a decision in the election process. Any decisions made must be ratified by the NAV in any case.
