On the NAV of September 12, the results of the KBDB elections were announced by bailiff Vanswijgenhoven. Originally, 88 candidates put themselves forward, of which 63 were offered at both national and provincial levels, 3 could only be chosen nationally, and 22 only provincially. After a number of withdrawn or rejected candidacies, a total of 67 remained, including the candidacy of Bart Piens, who was added at the last moment after a prolonged appeal process. Out of the 13,276 eligible voting members, 7,127 valid votes were cast, or about 53%. The results show clear regional differences and some remarkable outcomes:
Results by Province
Antwerp
Antwerp reaffirmed its role as a heavyweight in the pigeon sport. With 2,646 votes (52.31% turnout) and strong performances from, among others, Pascal Bodengien and Marc Vlaeminck, the province remains an important power center within the KBDB.
West Flanders
West Flanders saw a high involvement, with 1,811 votes and a turnout of 61.46%. Dany Vandenberghe and Peter Callebart achieved remarkably high scores here, underscoring the strong anchoring of the pigeon sport in this region.
East Flanders
In East Flanders, 3,181 members voted, resulting in a turnout of 54.54%. Names like Geert Schotte, Koen Crucke, and Filip D’Hondt achieved strong results here, signaling that the province is also competing at the national level.
Flemish Brabant
With 1,803 votes (56.02% turnout), Rudi Joossens and Cederic Sente demonstrated that they have significant local support.
Limburg
In Limburg, 1,502 members cast their votes (54.59%). The competition was particularly tight, with Tony Martens and Noël Petré finishing close together.
Liège
Liège had the highest turnout in the country: 63.73%. Marcel Vandersmissen and Nicolas Germain were the strongest candidates here.
Name
Name showed the lowest turnout at 44.68%. Nevertheless, Etienne Charlier and Marc Duchaine managed to secure a clear majority with limited numbers.
Luxembourg
In Luxembourg, only 121 votes were cast (53.72%), but Patrick Chérain achieved a remarkably high score of 75.38%.
Hainaut
With 1,187 votes (50.13% turnout), Marius Boboc and Benoît Deltenre confirmed their influence in the region.
Walloon Brabant
Walloon Brabant recorded a turnout of 56.47%. Denis Sapin and Dimitri Seressia achieved the best results here.
National Relations
Nationally, several clear frontrunners emerged. The absolute winner was current chairman Pascal Bodengien (Antwerp), who achieved 1,985 votes (27.85%), the highest score in the country, significantly exceeding his number of votes from the previous elections. Following him were Dany Vandenberghe (West Flanders) with 1,313 votes (18.42%) and Johan De Schouwer (Flemish Brabant) with 1,137 votes (15.95%). The latter made a very strong debut, as he and his entourage secured no less than 15 national mandates! This absolute majority could significantly endanger Bodengien's chairmanship. Marc Vlaeminck (Antwerp, 1,034 votes) and the previously unjustly suspended Filip D’Hondt (East Flanders, 1,014 votes) also achieved strong national results.
In Antwerp, the mandates are further filled by, among others, Tom De Rijck (985 votes) and Jorik Erik (909 votes).
In Walloon Brabant, Denis Sapin garnered 636 votes, while in Hainaut, Marius Boboc was the strongest with 934 votes.
The mandate for Liège goes to Frank Emo (709 votes).
For Limburg, there are two national mandates: Noël Petré (885 votes) and Tony Martens (796 votes).
In Luxembourg, Boris Burniat follows (637 votes) and in Name, Charles Nicolas (732 votes).
East Flanders delivers, in addition to Filip D’Hondt, additional mandates: Wynant Hendrik (925 votes), Schotte Geert (770 votes), Mathias Olivier (709 votes), and Crucke Koen (681 votes).
In Flemish Brabant, the list is completed by Joossens Rudi (921 votes), and in West Flanders by Schepens Jan (948 votes).
These figures show that especially the large provinces set the tone, but that there is also room for candidates from smaller departments who perform strongly locally.
Conclusion
The elections of September 2025 within the KBDB yielded clear results, with strong performances in the larger provinces as well as remarkable outcomes in smaller departments. The turnout varied significantly: high in Liège and West Flanders, lower in, among others, Name. This indicates differences in regional involvement in the pigeon sport.
At the national level, candidates from Antwerp, West Flanders, and Flemish Brabant achieved the highest number of votes, while in smaller provinces, candidates with a limited number of votes were still able to secure clear majorities. These elections determine who will represent the PE's and SPE's on one hand and who the national representatives will soon decide among themselves how the national management council will look after this legislature. The general assembly approved the election results.
