Gerry Hazaert has been achieving high national peaks for years.

Achieving national top rankings purely through the quality of the pigeon: the trademark of Gerry Hazaert.

In the valley of the IJse, just before its confluence with the Dijle, we drive through a quiet, rural area where agriculture has held great significance for many years. A region where nature still prevails with its vast meadows and local ponds and marshes.

Although it is geographically only a few dozen meters above sea level, we visit in Huldenberg an exceptionally amiable man who has reached unprecedented heights for years now, at least at the pigeon level: Gerry Hazaert.

The colony of Gerry Hazaert from Neerijse in Flemish Brabant has flown into the spotlight several times in recent decades.

What has been won over the years in races from sprint to long-distance together with father Kamiel can truly be regarded as a testament to the pure class these pigeons possess.

Just like the lofts, the care of the pigeons is kept as simple as possible. Darkening, providing light, etc. are not practiced here in Neerijse. Simplicity befits both man and animal.

After great successes in sprint and middle-distance racing, a few years ago the focus shifted to long-distance and heavy long-distance racing. With the 1st Interprovincial Limoges in 2018, 2nd Provincial Bergerac, and in 2019 the 1st National Zone Tulle with the yearlings, he was already well on his way. In 2020 he excelled even further with 15 x TOP 100 National in the feared races from the Rhône Valley, and on top of that, two national ace pigeons KBDB in this extremely tough competition. This is what you call entering through the grand gate!

Breeding Line
Most of the pigeons in the breeding loft had to perform well first before they earned their place here. This was the key to success. Ironclad pigeons that are made from the right stuff and easy to keep healthy. This is the best way to characterize Gerry's breeding line.

The old strain from father Kamiel has been supplemented over the years with pigeons from Leo De Jonghe (a strain of Vandenabeele Gaby), Vrebos Kristian -> always received and NOT paid.

For further work, investments were made in pigeons that can present the necessary credentials. This included the introduction of Erik Limbourg, where especially the “Barcelona Triple 5” and the “Remy” line of Remy Speltdoorn were brought in.

Pigeons were also acquired from the well-known lines of “De Kleine” & “De Frulle” from Hendrik Mortier. As a final reinforcement, Wilfried Bruyneel was also approached. That we have not yet seen the last of this colony is clear.
We wish Gerry much success in achieving his future plans!
