Because both are focusing on the game with the hens using old and yearling males, the 12 best young doffers are up for auction! One by one, proven top performers from this splendid breeding loft!
Frederik Motton and Matthias Coel met 16 years ago through pigeon racing. There was an immediate strong connection between these two young men, leading to increasingly intense contact. Almost all pigeon plans were discussed, and a swift exchange of pigeons followed. Since there is blind trust between these friends and the circumstances favored it, Frederik and Matthias decided in 2018 to merge their two breeding lofts. This resulted in the two best halves of each loft coming together, raising the quality dramatically in one go. They are now breeding under the name Motton-Coel, and the young pigeons are beautifully distributed each spring between the two locations Hélécine and Boortmeerbeek.
Since the merging of the breeding lofts, the following main results have been achieved:
- 8th national as pigeon GHF yearlings KBDB 2020 (Ona)
- 6 provincial victories
- 1st (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 mentions) provincial as pigeon GHF young pigeons 2021
- 9th Olympiad category sport B 2018 (New George)
- 12th Olympiad category sport H 2021 (Georgina)
In 2020, it was decided not to sell Ona after winning her title of 8th Nat. as pigeon GHF Yearling, but to give the breeding loft a quality boost. Matthias and Frederik had a strategy in mind to breed together with different top doffers to establish Ona firmly in their breeding loft and to introduce new 'top blood.' In 2021, she was paired:
1) With Invictus from Albert Derwa (the current top breeder – father and grandfather of 1st National
2) With Den Brave from Tom & Jan Iwens (Half-brother of 1st Nat. Argenton and son of their top breeder Vici)
3) With Tiësto's Hero from Davy Tournelle (Self 13th Nat. as pigeon GHF old and full brother of Tiësto's Lady (3rd Nat. as pigeon GHF old in the same year)
In 2022, she was paired:
1) With Rinus from Veulemans-Perilleux (1st Nat. La Souterraine in 2016)
2) With Vici from Tom & Jan Iwens (the absolute top breeder at Tom & Jan and father of 1st Nat. Argenton)
The offspring from these pairings moved straight into the breeding loft, and the first results promise a rosy future.
Due to the merging of the two breeding lofts, the following strains are now present in the loft:
- The Golden breeding pair emerged in Frederik's loft in 2011 by crossing pigeons from the late Florent Materne (Tienen) with Danny & Nick Van Avondt (Haacht). This pair immediately produced the 2nd National Argenton (against 28019 birds) and the following year the 3rd National Gueret (against 15007 birds). They are unfortunately no longer fertile, but around 10 offspring still reside in the breeding loft, from which first prize winners are born annually.
- Derwa-Luxem (Herent): Matthias (a regular visitor at Albert and Francine's) and Frederik are the proud owners of several Derwa pigeons. Currently, there are 4 children of Invictus in our breeding lofts as well as 2 children of the new star from Herent, Davinia (from the daughter of Davinia, we bred 1st Prov. Bourges in Walloon Brabant in 2022, and from the son of Davinia (paired to top hen Ona), we also bred a 1st prize winner (see purchase 3).
- Veulemans-Perilleux (Vissenaken): The long-standing friendship with this tandem ensures a continuous strengthening of our breeding loft.
- Erik Limbourg (Brussegem): In 2015, a top breeder was acquired from Erik, who has since become the (great)father of more than 10 different first prize winners and is a fixed asset in the breeding loft.
- Brothers Herbots (Halle-Booienhoven): A son from George (9th Nat. as pigeon GHF old 2013) has developed into a true top breeder. He is the father of 2 Olympic pigeons and a provincial as pigeon (see below)
- Davy Tournelle (Rummen): Here, in 2013, a daughter was acquired from Torres, who became the mother of the new founding hen Ona.
- Bob Berendsen (Netherlands) -> The collaboration with Bob has existed since the very beginning of Matthias's pigeon career. Many top pigeons from Bob have already passed through the breeding loft and have consistently had a significant influence on Matthias's performances.
- Jan & Tom Iwens (Sint-Katelijne-Waver) -> The introduction of the Iwens pigeons is a recent development. The very best breeding cocks were paired to Ona. The Iwens pigeons immediately left their mark on Matthias and Frederik.
The common thread in the loft is a combination of the old strains from Frederik (the late Florent Materne & Van Avondt) and Matthias (Bob Berendsen & Albert Derwa) into which the aforementioned top material is systematically crossed.

Ona was placed in the breeding loft in winter 2020 and immediately produced 2 doffers in her first breeding season, which flew one top prize after another in Hélécine. One became 11th Nat. As der Azen LCB with, among others, 2nd IProv. Argenton against 3005 pigeons (after a loft mate), and the other won the 1st prize on the incredibly tough La Souterraine of 2021. Frederik and Matthias were eagerly looking forward to the 2022 season, in which grandchildren of Ona would be raced for the first time. After 2022, Ona has since become the mother and grandmother of:
