The Limburg Fond & Marathon Club (LFMC) has successfully completed its first year. The many positive reactions are testament to this. “That is why we are maintaining the current formula,” said president Jacky Creemers during the latest meeting of the fond club.
It was no easy task that the LFMC set for itself after the dissolution of the Limburg Fond Club and Marathon Club. The board members set the bar high with numerous new initiatives such as the “Pigeon Fancier of the Month,” famous Limburgers at the start of the Derby flight Orléans, and broader championships. Jacky Creemers: “We have well established ourselves as a fond club in this new formula and want to continue on this path. Optimism reigns, I would say. This year, we received a lot of support from a group of sponsors, with Horta and Het Belang van Limburg being the highlights.”
Champion Celebration
The champion celebration of fond club Limburg will take place on Saturday, December 14, at De Kwint hall in Zonhoven, and not at Tentakel hall (where a carnival celebration is scheduled that evening). At De Kwint, a buffet will be offered, along with entertainment and projection on a large screen. In relation to the championships, there is already anticipation for next year, possibly also including the crowning of the overall champion of semi-fond, heavy semi-fond, and fond, which will only be the case for the marathon flights in 2024. Furthermore, the website of the LFMC (fondclublimburg.be) will be further developed into a useful tool with all possible information, especially as the fond club goes increasingly digital and correspondence by post will gradually become less prominent.
The champion celebration will take place on Saturday, December 14, starting at 4 PM at De Kwint hall in Zonhoven. Participation in the warm buffet costs 30 euros per person, registration until December 7 via transfer to BE49 3350 2746 3271.
