A breeding loft populated with blue pigeons, offspring, and brothers or sisters of blue pigeons!

Pedigree Development

The breeding loft in Hulste is populated with ash pigeons, offspring, and brothers or sisters of ash pigeons.

It all started with “Kurt” 12/3107252 in 2012, purchased as a donation, this crack developed into a top prize flyer (no less than 16 times!!), twice a provincial winner and an excellent breeder. Furthermore, he managed to place in the Provincial ash pigeons for 3 consecutive years (2nd, 8th, 8th) in the small middle-distance races.

Additionally, there was “Pablo” 12/3108223, who classified as the 2nd ash pigeon KBDB-WVL in the large middle-distance as a yearling, and as a two-year-old became the 8th ash pigeon KBDB-WVL in the large middle-distance.

To continue on this path, additional pigeons were acquired from the following enthusiasts:

  • From A. Allemeersch (Pottes), a daughter from the Favorite was obtained (3rd Nat ash pigeon GHF 2010)
  • From C. Debacker (Beveren-Leie):
    • children from Hilde (sister of 1st ash pigeon fond KBDB-WVL ‘16),
    • a daughter from ROXY (2nd ash pigeon KBDB-WVL in ‘10 and 11th ash pigeon KBDB-WVL in 2011).
    • Pigeons from the lines of Orel (1st ash pigeon HF KBDB ‘05), from the top pair Nick x Natacha, a half-brother of the 1st ash pigeon speed KBDB-WVL (at Vivien Tjoens), a full sister of “King of Queens” (mother of 2nd Nat ash pigeon GHF ‘23 at J. Roziers).
  • At J&M Vancouillie, the 4th ash pigeon KHF KBDB-WVL old & yearlings was purchased, which in turn is already the father of “Jolly Jumper” 20/3120021, 1st ash pigeon KBDB-WVL ‘20 and “Telstar” 20/3021022 3rd ash pigeon KHF KBDB-WVL ‘20
  • From Rino Verheye (Aalbeke)
    • Son and grandson of “Isaias” 4th ash pigeon KHF KBDB-WVL, who in turn is the father of 7th ash pigeon GMD KBDB-WVL ’18, 8th ash pigeon allround KBDB-WVL ’19, 2nd ash pigeon speed LCB ‘16, 3rd ash of the aces LCB ’16, 5th ash pigeon HF LCB ’16
    • Children and grandchildren of “Jommeke”: 1st ash pigeon allround KBDB-WVL in ’16 and ’17 and Provincial winner at Chateauroux, including “Orphée”, full sister of 2nd ash pigeon allround KBDB-WVL ’21 and 13th ash pigeon allround KBDB-WVL ’20

Pigeons were also brought in from these enthusiasts' Provincial winners to optimize the breeding stock, as well as a full brother of the 2nd national Limoges and a daughter from a joint breeding of the 1st national Montluçon from Schoors-Dewaele (Adegem).

System

The breeders are paired at the end of November and raise two rounds of young.

The widowers are paired at the end of December and raise two young. After breeding, the widowers remain in the aviary until the first week of March, after which daily training begins. At the beginning of April, they come together for another 5 days to learn, after which they are basketed for Arras.

Upon returning home, the classic widowhood begins, lasting until the first week of August, during which weekly entries are made for both small and large middle-distance and fond.

The racing hens are paired at the end of February and are trained on a young bird before being entered weekly for the middle-distance.

The young pigeons are flown on the sliding door system and compete in middle-distance flights and some in National flights for young pigeons.

Medical

Aside from the mandatory vaccination for PMV, there is also vaccination for Paratyphoid (only old pigeons in the fall), Herpes, and Pox. Periodic check-ups with the veterinarian are scheduled.
