Exclusive auction of 23 weaning young pigeons from proven breeding pigeons! Lines of Dirk Van Dyck, Hooijmans, Dehon-Demonseau, Drapa, Van de Merwe, and so on. An excellent opportunity for a quality boost!
History
Dennis (36) was introduced to pigeons at a very young age by his grandfather, who has been involved in the sport for a lifetime. As soon as Dennis could ride a bike, he would go to visit his grandpa to watch the pigeons. And every Saturday, he was present to witness the arrivals. After several years of nagging, Dennis was finally allowed to have his own pigeon loft in the garden when he turned 13. His father Cor (64) helped Dennis from the beginning, became more and more involved, and thus became increasingly passionate about the pigeon sport. Meanwhile, Cor and Dennis form a full-fledged father/son combination.
From 1998 to 2011, they competed in Den Helder from sprint to long-distance. After a short break, Dennis and Cor returned to racing in 2018, aiming for the sprint and (great) middle distance. This year, they will cautiously resume long-distance racing as well.
Breeding and System
The foundation of the beautiful results at Guldemond's home lies in a wide range of top pigeons with corresponding lineage. The breeding loft, housing 16 pairs, is populated by bloodlines from “Best Kittel” Dehon-Demonseau, “Harry” Hooijmans, Dirk Van Dyck, W. de Bruijn, “Porsche”, “Kittel” Dirk Van den Bulck, Leo Heremans, Hoffman-Regtop, Peter Janssen (Kleve) and Kurt Platteeuw.
This season, about 80 young pigeons were ringed from 2 rounds. Furthermore, the loft also contains 20 cocks and their hens staying behind.
The breeding pigeons and the cocks are paired in the first week of January, and the young birds are allowed to make their first rounds around the loft before they are darkened until the first week of July.
Dennis: “Until last year, all the young ones were just in one loft, and we had a maximum of 60. We didn’t motivate them extra; they were just allowed to come and train well during the week. This year, we have two adjoining lofts for the young guard and we want to separate the young ones after two or three races to play them on the sliding door.”
“The first training flight for young pigeons this year is July 1, so we will start training from the end of May. The distance schedule is approximately as follows: 5 – 10 – 20 – 25 – 25 – 25 – 50 – 50
Then the first training begins, and up to the third flight, we include the 50 km twice a week, which means taking them to my work,” he adds.
Feeding and Medical
In the first days after their return home, a light mixture with a lot of barley is fed. After that, Dennis and Cor switch to the 'normal' feed, namely the “Platteeuw” mixture from Vanrobaeys. Depending on the flight and the weather, they complement the last day/days with “NPO-mix” from Embregts-Theunis.
