The Golden Wing, which is annually awarded to the winner from Barcelona with his/her first nominated doffer, is usually the absolute highlight of a fancier's career.
There is only one fancier per year who can achieve this exceptional honor.
There are no second chances at this level, Barcelona, only once a year, and even a "easy flight" is still one of the hardest races to win ever.
Many dream of winning this classic someday.
From the very beginning, the intention was to create a club that was accessible to everyone, where no distinction is made between big and small.
You may only participate with 1 doffer, and the entry fee must remain as low as possible.
This is to ensure that everyone starts this unique competition with equal chances.
The success of this formula has been proven by time, for 48 years now.
Despite the decline in the pigeon sport, the BBC can still count on +/- 850 members, indicating that Belgian long-distance players still want to be involved.
In the past, the BBC had great fanciers or large lofts that won, but they also had many small fanciers that nobody had ever heard of taking home the prizes.
Why wouldn't it work for you? Keep in mind that the chance of winning is small, but by not participating, you have no chance at all...
