At the awards ceremony taking place this year on October 18 in Hooglede, a celebration will be offered to them that will be etched in their memory forever.
It still holds true that the “Golden Wing” captivates the imagination of every fond player both domestically and abroad.
The Golden Wing, which is awarded annually to the winner from Barcelona with their first designated pigeon, is usually the absolute highlight of a fancier's career.
There is only one fancier per year who can claim this exceptional honor.
There are no retries at this level, Barcelona, only once a year, and even a “easy race” is still one of the most difficult races to win.
Many dream of winning this classic one day.
From the very beginning, the intention was to create a club that is accessible to everyone, where no distinction is made between big and small.
Only one pigeon may be entered, and the entry fee must remain as low as possible.
This ensures that everyone has equal opportunities at the start of this unique race.
The success of this formula has been proven over time, now for 48 years.
Despite the decline in pigeon sport, the BBC can still count on approximately 850 members, indicating that Belgian fond players still want to be involved.
In the past, the BBC had large fanciers or large lofts that won, but they also had many smaller fanciers whom no one had heard of that took the prize.
