With 'Super Stero', Luc Decabooter from Harelbeke has an impressive long-distance pigeon in the loft, among others, 2nd price national Marseille '24 in Belgium.
"The city of Harelbeke, located in the province of West Flanders, is close to the more famous city of Kortrijk, and also lies along the river Leie, which flows from France to Ghent and connects with the Scheldt. To clock a top pigeon in Marseille in the most western province of Belgium, one must certainly come from good stock. For the pigeon, it is particularly a matter of being able to break free from the large distraction in time to cover the distance home towards the west all alone. With the recent 2nd national price from the southeast French city of Marseille, 'Super Stero': BE20-3062776 has once again shown its pure marathon class. This superstar has previously demonstrated innate long-distance qualities and boasts a number of stunning long-distance results. To date, he has been entered 8 times in the arduous long-distance events and has ranked 7 times. The only race he missed was from Narbonne as a yearling, where he returned home 2 days after release and was injured in the wing."

"A few years ago, Luc resolutely chose the long-distance route and also acquired pigeons for this discipline. With a lot of patience and strict selection, he has already achieved several beautiful successes in those marathon flights. Do not think that he possesses a large colony of pigeons. His loft contains 12 widowers plus about 10 hens that are played on the nest, 10 pairs of breeding pigeons, and about 20 young pigeons. That’s it!! "

"With the following origins, he has been particularly successful:
- 2 extra breeding males from Willy Steenaerts including the father of the 'Super Stero' and the 'As Stero' (for performances of the latter see further)
- 1 superior breeding hen from Guido Van den Bulcke (= daughter of the Barcelona topper 'Stev')
- 1 extra breeding hen from Stefan Mertens = daughter from 1st nat St Vincent '14 at Fr. Franssen and, among others, mother of the top hen 'Aline'
- 1 good breeding male from Xavier Verstraete = son of 'Captain One-eye'
From the Netherlands, we also find some top breeders, including Gerard van der Doel, Ina Roobol (where the mother of 'Super Stero' and 'As Stero' comes from) – Jo Ritzen – Combination Van Baal (a good flyer = 'Liselore') and Paul Clauwers.
Recently, there is also joint breeding with the strain of Ivan Verhaeghe and Franky Vandemeulebroucke (origin Harinck-Poelmans and Hubert Verbauwhede), of which it is too early to speak about results.
Returning briefly to the already mentioned 'As Stero' BE20-3062775, (= a full nest brother of 'Super Stero') this 'As Stero' was flagged in 2021 as the 7th national as pigeon KBDB heavy long-distance yearlings with the following 2 classifications: 79th national ’21 on 5.972 d from Narbonne and 98th national ’21 on 7.360 d from Agen.
The medical check is in the hands of Dr. Pascal Lanneau. At the start of the season, there was a week of treatment for respiratory issues and heads. During the season no more unless performances decline. The race pigeons receive “Long distance mix Aidi” and also the heavy long-distance mixture from Vanrobaeys. Upon returning home, the pigeons find electrolytes in the drinking bowl and receive 2 days of A.P.F. 90 from Brockamp over the feed. In preparation for a heavy long-distance flight, they get 2 days of “Lithin Oil” from Brockamp over the feed.
