On the night of December 25 to 26, dozens of pigeons lost their lives in a horrific arson at the home of Poelstra in Sneek (Friesland).
Surveillance footage shows a person entering the garden, opening the door of the pigeon loft, and creating a firestorm in just a few seconds. Moments later, the person rides away on a bicycle.
Although the fire did not have the chance to spread and the loft remained relatively intact, for the majority of the animals, help arrived too late. Of the 35 pigeons that were in the loft at that time, only about ten survived the attack. At least for now, as some may still need to be relieved of their suffering due to injuries and smoke damage to their lungs.
A police report has already been filed, and a reward of two thousand euros has been issued for anyone who can provide the crucial tip leading to the perpetrator.
